Colectica Announces 12 Milestone Moments of 2012 for Open Standards
As 2012 winds down, here are some moments highlighting how Colectica has advocated and advanced open standards based data documentation in the past year.
If the Colectica twitter feed reveals anything about the advancement of open standards, then it has been a pretty epic year. Take a look at what made the list to be reminded what a momentous 12 months it has been for standards based data documentation.
- Paris in the spring is wonderful, and so was the DDI 3 training in April.
- Open Source metadata converters project was released, allowing Blaise to DDI transformation.
- Colectica conducted a workshop on DDI and Colectica in Washington DC in June.
- Colectica attended the IASSIST 2012 conference, and staff presented four talks about data documentation in RDF, Colectica 4, connecting Colectica with eXist-db, and variable baskets on the web.
- A Colectica SDK training was conducted at our Minneapolis office with English friends, focusing on longitudinal study harmonization.
- Colectica conducted a two week data documentation workshop and programmer training in Budapest, Hungary.
- Colectica Workflow Service was released to allow large enterprises to add process management and approvals to their metadata creation and publication processes.
- Colectica version 4 was released, improving upon the relationship management and versioning of standards based metadata.
- Colectica attended the DDI Moving forward workshop, helping plan the next generation of the Data Documentation Initiative’s metadata standard.
- Colectica for Excel was released, bringing standards based data documentation, along with SPSS and Stata import to Microsoft Excel.
- Colectica staff presented a case study of Statistics New Zealand’s use of DDI and Colectica at the European Data Documentation Initiative Conference, along with 3 additional talks.
- Colectica conducted DDI and Colectica training workshops in Paris, Bergen, and Copenhagen in December.
There’s no question it’s been a momentous year at Colectica. The company introduced the world to Colectica version 4, spread standards based data documentation while visiting 9 countries, released hundreds of thousands of lines of open source code, and launched a free Microsoft Excel addin.
