Colectica Announces 14 Milestone Moments in 2014 for Data Documentation

As 2015 begins, here are some moments highlighting how Colectica has advocated and advanced open standards based data documentation in the past year.

If the Colectica twitter feed reveals anything about the advancement of open standards, then it has been a pretty epic year. Take a look at what made the list to be reminded what a momentous 12 months it has been for standards based data documentation.

  • Hosted the first International Colectica Users Conference (ICUC) in London.
  • DDI 3.2 training with SRO at the University of Michigan. Proving that DDI 3.2 can be learned in just 2 days!
  • Presented at FedCASIC in Washington DC about creating survey instruments from DDI metadata.
  • Presented four presentations at the North American DDI conference in Vancouver.
  • DDI 3.2 was released after five years of development!
  • Toronto in the springtime is wonderful, and so was IASSIST 2014 and our three presentations.
  • Participated in a Data Transformations planning meeting at ICPSR, planning how to document data cleaning and processing.
  • Started work on an Open Source data curation platform with partners from Yale and Innovations for Poverty Action.
  • Staff from Colectica worked on the organizing committee for the 2015 North American DDI conference at UW-Madison.
  • Participated in the Minneapolis startup week.
  • Colectica 5 was released, along with support for DDI 3.2.
  • Attended the DDI Moving Forward sprint at Schloss Dagstuhl, working on the next version of DDI Lifecycle.
  • Took London by storm at the European DDI conference, hosting a workshop and participating in six presentations.
  • Staff from Colectica attended 31 DDI Technical Committee meetings!

2014 has been an incredible year, and we look forward to even more advances in 2015.
